Liberty Capital Markets Scam.
A group of scammers operating under the name of Liberty Capital Markets is operating a follow-on-fraud on victims of investment scams. In this example the people being approached are those who invested in the oil scams run by Glenn Jamie King, David Alexander Hyman and Martin Finch.
There is a UK company called Liberty Capital Markets Ltd which was incorporated in August 2016 [LINK to Companies House records] but it is very unlikely this follow-on-fraud is linked to them. It would appear to be identity fraud where the company’s public records have been cloned by scammers and they are pretending to be a legitimate company. The scammers have obviously checked the company records because their letters are signed off using the name of Jonathan James Blythe who is a director of the genuine company. However, the company’s registered office in the fraud documents does not match that of the genuine company.
The Liberty Markets Capital Scam documents list the company’s website as www.libertycapuk.co.uk. A website actually exists with that name (well, it does at the time of writing this article but we expect it to be taken down pretty quickly). These scammers have acted quickly because the domain name for the website was only purchased on 9th June 2021 and they’ve put a website up already. We know that letters were being sent out by these scammers one week after they purchased the domain name.
The documents which have been sent out are shown on the links below. Information in the documents which might show who provided them to us has been redacted to protect the individual. These documents are fairly standard for scammers so if anyone receives similar documents, but under a different company name, then you can be sure it’s a scam.

June appears to have been a busy month for scammers. We have been contacted about a number of follow-on-frauds which have all come out within a few days of each other. We believe many of the scams targeting investors who have fallen victim to investment scams are operated by the same group of people.
